Minimum skills needed for attending the First-Timer Zone ski clinics
  • Participant must bring the appropriate ski gear.
Minimum skills needed for attending the Beginner Zone ski clinics

Participant demonstrates ability to:

  • Create forward momentum using ski and pole push.
  • Glide with weight on both skis.
  • Control speed and change direction on gentle downhills.
  • Understand the classic techniques of diagonal stride and double pole or skate techniques of V1 and double pole.
Minimum skills required to attend the Intermediate Zone ski clinics

Participant demonstrates the classic or skate cross country ski skills to:

  • Manage ski and pole push to create forward movement.
  • Control the center of mass over their feet in fore/aft and side to side planes.
  • Glide with full weight on one ski.
  • Control speed and change direction on downhills.
  • Show versatility in beginner terrain.
  • Can classic ski using diagonal stride and double pole techniques or skate ski using V2, V1 and double pole techniques.
Minimum skills required to attend the Advanced Zone ski clinics

Participant demonstrates the cross country ski fundamentals at intermediate classic and skate skill levels by adjusting tactical choices, speed, and ski performance to:

  • Manage ski and pole push to increase speed.
  • Maintain the center of mass over their feet in fore/aft and side to side planes.
  • Control the duration of ski glide.
  • Manage speed and change of direction on downhills.
  • Show versatility in intermediate terrain.
  • Can classic ski using diagonal stride and double pole techniques or skate ski using V2, V1 and double pole techniques.
  • Continuously ski in beginner and intermediate terrain for up to 15 minutes.
